Kevin Barnes’ noise machine has seen members come and go over the years, with honorary bandmates passing through the eye of the storm since their inception in 1997. Like many indie art-pop bands of the ilk, their competent grasp of pop/rock formulae fused with an often twee delivery makes for a colourful blend. But their eclectic palette stretches so far before you realise this is a repetitive succession of incomprehensible ramblings over the same jangly guitar chords.
