Ethereal indie trio London Grammar announced details of their second album, which is due to land in record shops in June this year. With two trail singles already released in 2017, the band revealed that their sophomore effort would be titled “Truth is a Beautiful Thing.” To celebrate the news, London Grammar shared the eponymous track via Youtube, which will close out the album itself.
London Grammar are made up of London-born Hannah Reid and Dan Rothman, and Dominic Major, who hails from Northamptonshire. The three-piece shot to success in 2013 having gained momentum online before the release of their critically acclaimed debut “If you Wait” in September. Climbing to number 2 in the UK Charts, the album reached Platinum at home and in Australia.
Unimpaired by their long hiatus, 2017 singles “Big Picture” and “Rooting for you,” demonstrate London Grammar are still able to create the same immersive and introspective sound that defined their first record. Whilst information about the exact direction “Truth is a Beautiful Thing” will take is scarce, you should expect the same expansive arrangements and emotive vocals that made “If you Wait” such a breath of fresh air. Moreover, having enlisted producers such as Paul Epstein and Jon Hopkins, the band’s second effort will be in safe hands in the studio.
“Truth is Beautiful Thing” will be released on June 9 2017, but you can check out the titular track on Youtube now. Whilst the band have no upcoming London events, bar an intimate gig at the Round Chapel on Thursday April 6, expect them to announce an Autumn tour. In the interim you can catch them at several summer festivals in both Britain and Europe.
