Few people could’ve predicted how the frontman to the highly influential and extremely short-lived Sex Pistols, who imploded on-stage during their very first U.S tour in 1978, would go on to find success with a band who’s output and praise would far outweigh it’s predecessor.
John Lydon’s Public Image Limited (AKA PiL), found a solid foothold in the world stage pretty swiftly after the Pistols’ demise and there they’ve stayed, finding an infinitely deeper and more experimental sound which has seen them push some serious boundaries throughout their career.
The line-up may have changed somewhat since their inception, but their enigmatic frontman remains true to his original vision, having reactivated the band back in 2009 after a seventeen year hiatus.
Their impending tour will be upon us at the same time as the release of their tenth studio album “What The World Needs Now…” and will be preceded by lead single “Double Trouble” on August 21st. But until then, you’ll have make do with this old classic.
PiL blend elements of world music, pop, psychedelia and rock to create something that’s an altogether more inclusive listening experience compared to the bratty rantings of Lydon’s first band. They’ve leagues of fans who’ll happily queue in the wind and rain to catch a glimpse of the band live.
So I guess we better get to the point and give you those tour dates hadn’t we! Here you go then.
