Almost a month on from its launch extravaganza featuring Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers and Krankbrother, Printworks – recently opened in Canada Water – looks set to go from strength to strength.
With multiple successful events already under its belt, including Netsky and Sub Focus on the same bill at Snowbombing and UKF Present, plus further enviable bookings in the near future – the 6,000 capacity, 16-acre destination will surely become another valued focal-point for the East London dance scene.
Blessed with multiple expansive rooms due to its former employment as the production space for the Evening Standard and The Metro, much of Printworks early success surely lies in its versatility. Promised as “the ultimate blank canvas event space for conferences, exhibitions, brand activations, product launches and filming” by its hiring team, the cavernous setting lends itself naturally to a variety of performance types, maximising the diversity of its bookings. In April for example, the acoustic capabilities of the venue will be tested by Some Voices, a 500-person strong contemporary choir performing a disco and funk repertoire. Creative scheduling such as this will serve to set Printworks apart from its counterparts in the future – there’s no doubt that the uniqueness of the space both lends itself to and adds value to, creativity and innovation.
Tickets for events at Printworks seem to be selling out fast, despite its significant capacity – a month in and this trend shows no sign of abating. Looking ahead to March, we especially recommend the Saturday events, with lineups curated by The Hydra, Nina Kraviz and Melt Festival. Extensively stocked with excellent DJs, and priced competitively at £22.50, these day-long parties seem like great opportunities to experience this distinctive venue for the first time.
After a successful first month, it seems like Printworks is set to continue to build momentum; this imposing new Canada Water destination may soon become one of the must-go venues in the capital.
