Charlie XCX was quietly bubbling away on the Great Escape Festival’s ‘Ones To Watch’ list for a couple of years before the blog-hype suddenly went stratospheric (for no apparent reason other than it was bored) and everyone started championing her. Queue the collaborations with other barely established acts and numerous delayed releases to fuel the fire. Does anybody remember Republica? Well, they did this ironic cutesy pop rock way better with songs people still remember. This is musical Hubba Bubba.
