As a fan of only their debut LP, it was with some trepidation that the play button was hit on the fifth LP from the Stafford-bred indie quintet. The chilled electronica of opener “No Harm” makes for a disarming intro to a greatly understated record. Vocalist Tom Smith’s falsetto sounds not unlike modern Bowie, and there are some genuinely stirring cinematic moments too, “The Law” standing out as an emotionally overflowing highlight. With the odd pop-tastic Depeche Mode moment, Editors seem to have a new-found confidence that makes this LP shine as one of their best. 6/10 – Out now
