Bears Den have gone from strength to strength since their inception in West London a few years back. The folk trio’s debut album “Islands” came out nearly a year ago, yet it still heralds a few surprises.
“Elysium”, the latest single to be lifted from the LP, is officially released on October 9.
The single follows the recent, Ivor Novello-nominated ‘Above The Clouds of Pompeii’, which saw the band’s inclusion on the Radio 1 Playlist for the first time and the album subsequently re-entering the Top 75 (and iTunes Top 30) a full ten months after its release. The band’s ascent also continues on the road, with autumn tour dates set to culminate at their biggest London headline show to date, at The Roundhouse on 27th October.
The show is now completely sold out. Which of course means its going to be one hell of a homecoming. Those lucky enough to have bagged a ticket in advance can rest assured that their place is secured for one of those “I was there” moments.
The video for “Elysium” was filmed and directed by by Marcus Haney, who, to tie in with the song’s theme, decided to follow his brother and his group of free wheeling friends as they celebrated their last few days of term at Seattle Pacific University. However, during Marcus’ four days of filming, a lone gunman attacked the University campus where Marcus’ brother and friends lived. Both the band and director’s immediate reaction was to call a halt to filming, but despite – or perhaps because of – the harrowing circumstances, each participant elected to continue filming as events unfolded.
