Boy Better Know Takeover, The O2 Arena, Sunday Aug 27

Boy Better Know Takeover, The O2 Arena, Sunday Aug 27

Heavyweight London-based collective and record label Boy Better Know have spearheaded the explosion of Grime into the mainstream, and their well-hyped takeover at The O2 Arena over August Bank Holiday should prove to be a fitting demonstration of this success. With a series of massive names producing under the BBK label, including JME, Skepta, Wiley, Preditah and Solo 45, the Takeover will be stacked with top quality acts. Despite the O2 being amongst the largest venues in London, expect this unique event to sell-out extremely quickly.

Whilst tickets were made available for purchase on Friday May 12, the team behind the  Takeover have released sparing details on the event itself. However, it’s certain that it will be far more than your average gig. The Press Release that accompanied the event’s announcement by BBK founder JME (famous for singles such as “96 F***ing Fries” and “Murking”) in April states that the Takeover will be a “day of music, film, gaming, sport, food and London lifestyle.” And, with curated schedules expected for The O2’s various cinemas and subvenues, the organisers look set to deliver on this promise, creating a captivating and diverse party in the process.

Of course the focal point of the Takeover will be the music itself. With recent new music from Skepta, Wiley and others on the BBK label, the event will showcase the cutting edge of London’s explosive grime circuit. Despite claims on wikipedia, reports that Jeremy Corbyn will be playing at the event remain unconfirmed (!).

Tickets are on sale, and start at £62.25. Doors for the event are at 2pm. Standing for the event is 16+, and those aged 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
