If anyone can claim to to have a had a bumper year, it’s Ireland’s noir folk troubadour Hozier.
His self-titled debut album went into the top five of the UK, US, Irish, and Australian charts and his lead single “Take Me To Church” went multi-platinum almost a quickly as the young songwriter became a household name.
He’s one of those success stories that reassures you that the major-label fat-cats still have the ability to surprise you by taking a risk on a true talent, rather than playing it safe with some flash-in-the-pan bubblegum pop act.
And even though the aforementioned single lead single is just about the most recognisable song on mainstream radio at the moment, we’ve a feeling that this guy is more than just a one trick pony. One listen to his latest single “Someone New” should be proof enough. It has the makings of a pop classic with some serious legs!
His recent performance with Annie Lennox at the Grammy’s saw him step up to the plate as a world class performer. Now Hozier’s current tour brings him to some key venues in the UK. See dates below.
May 22 – Newcastle O2 Academy
May 25 – Manchester Albert Hall
June 01 – Roundhouse, London
June 02 – O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, London
June 03 – The Forum, London
Tickets are mostly sold out, but a handful of venues still have some available. Check the following link to see if you’re still in with a chance. His only other UK performances for the foreseeable future will be at T In The Park (July) and V Festival (August).
